The river Danube is abundant with incredible areas and cultural and historical monuments all along its course. From the SPECIAL NATURAL RESERVATION “GORNJE PODUNAVLJE”, through the PARK OF THE NATURE TIKVARA, beautiful town SREMSKI KARLOVCI, to the NATIONAL PARK DJERDAP, the Danube wrote picturesque landscapes and valuable cultural heritage.
“Gornje Podunavlje” is located in the far northwest of Serbia, on the border with Hungary and Croatia. It is a protected natural good of I category, which extends along the left bank of the river Danube. It is part of the large biosphere reserve of the Bačko Podunavlje, which forms the “European Amazon” and represents one of the most well-preserved swamp units throughout the Danube, registered in the UNESCO.
Further downstream we are welcomed by the Park of nature “Tikvara” which is located in the southern part of the provincial unit Bačka on the inundation area of the middle course of the Danube, on its left bank.
