Eastern part of Croatia with its two counties – Osječko-baranjska and Vukovarsko-srijemska County is dominated by two big rivers – Drava and Danube, also surrounded by vast wetlands and floodplain forests. It is the integral part of the UNESCO Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Mura-Drava-Danube, also known as the „Amazon of Europe“. This area is very rich in natural and cultural heritage, with abundance of wildlife, picturesque landscapes, river meanders and sandbanks, ancient floodplain forests, mixture of traditional architecture and cultural sights from different periods representing multi-cultural and historical richness of the area. Gastronomy and variety of wine sorts also present important assets, especially for tourists visiting the area.
